SHARP Photocatalytic Technology

Photocatalysts are substances that exhibit high oxidative power when exposed to light, chemically decomposing harmful substances and odor components upon contact. Leveraging process technologies developed through semiconductor device advancements and expertise in toner development and production, SHARP introduced its proprietary photocatalytic material in 2015.

This technology responds not only to sunlight but also visible light such as LEDs, delivering antibacterial, antiviral, deodorizing, anti-fouling, and anti-mold effects.

Product Features

Our photocatalytic material uses tungsten oxide as its main component. Compared to titanium oxide, which has been commonly used, tungsten oxide responds to a wider range of wavelengths of light. So it has a strong oxidizing power not only under sunlight containing ultraviolet but also under visible light of indoor lightings such as fluorescent lamps and LEDs. In addition, the platinum particles blended in as auxiliary catalysts further improve the performance.

Effective not only outdoors but inside as well.
